The past can help inform our present, so that we may make valid choices about the future. When we realize that “our” past is a personal, imperfect story, that’s called being wise. When we believe that our story is an absolute truth which we are doomed to repeat, that’s called being stuck. Yoga offers a variety of tools to cultivate discretion, or viveka, which can greatly assist our wisening and unsticking. Yoga also offers many helpful practices to keep us grounded in the moment, so that our bright future unfolds from the present, not the hazy past.
In this two hour workshop we will employ asana and mantra to “burn up” un-helpful past impressions and beliefs. Pranayama and kriya practices will purify us from the inside out. Most importantly, we will focus on bhavana, or cultivating our expansive future. Let’s all set the intention to be the best person we can be, in the best of all possible worlds. Collectively and individually, we can create our own future, the one we want to live in.
Space is limited to 20 participants. If you would like to reserve a spot, please email info@seattledonationyoga.com.
December is a month full of expectation, excitement and aggravation. With Mercury going retrograde on the 10th through the 30th, and a difficult total eclipse of the moon on December 21st, astrologers are predicting a month of missed connections, crossed wires and false starts. Mix these cosmic occurrences with the heightened urgency and emotional charge of the holidays and we have the makings of strife and frustration.
Fortunately for all of us, practicing yoga gives us tools we can use to survive and thrive in this less than perfect world. The focus on moving and breathing relaxes our metabolism and gives us greater resiliency. We bounce-back sooner. The focus on mindfulness and meditation gives us room to cut others, and ourselves, more slack more often. We can understand and forgive. The focus on clarity gives us the power to say “no” and to walk away when there is nothing to be gained. We can act and choose to ignore. We can also laugh and cry in the same moment without fear.
The Sutras encourage us to practice yoga regularly, in earnest and without fail. 6 days a week is the traditional recipe, although for modern movers and shakers I usually suggest practicing 3 days a week on a regular schedule. It’s best to commit to certain days of the week and schedule the rest of your life around your practice. You know you can feel a difference when you do, and you can tell when others have been doing the same. Seattle Donation Yoga offers class at the most popular times, 6 days a week, so mark up your calendar and come create the space for happiness and peace in your lives.

We are betting on people’s inate generosity to support our operations and teachers, and by doing that, the eduacion of those who can’t pay. In fact, we are so confident people will love practicing yoga this way, we have comitted to passing on 5% of our income every month to charities and non-profits all over the world.
Seattle Donation Yoga takes yoga back to it’s roots. We offer the teachings to anyone that wants to learn, with a smile and without judgement. No yogis left behind.
We have come to make it right and keep it real. Yoga teachings are timeless and priceless. Charging a fixed price for a yoga class is a stunted and prohibitive practice, which keeps yoga from the general public. We aim to return yoga to it’s roots, as a personal and spiritual education, without dogma and membership. Come and learn from the best teachers in town at a price you can afford, whatever that is. No yogis left behind!
